Early Learning & Care Programs

Approach

Within Little People’s Academy we provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where your child will grow and learn through the mode of play. Aistear, the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework and Siolta, the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education, are actively intertwined, so that each child will be part of a full holistic educational experience whilst attending our service.

Curriculum

Child In Speech Therapy

At Little People’s Academy, we use an emergent curriculum. Children thrive and learn best when their interests are captured, where learning occurs naturally. An emergent curriculum is a way of planning a curriculum of activities that is based on the children’s interests and passion at a certain point in time. Planning an emergent curriculum requires observation, documentation, creative brainstorming, flexibility and patience on the part of the Early Childhood Educator. Rather than starting with the lesson plan which is repeated every year regardless of the age, developmental level or interests of the children, an emergent curriculum starts with the children’s interest. In short, it is a child-directed and early-years teacher facilitated approach to planning the curriculum.
